Melville Chardonnay 2011 Inox Clone

This wine is made from a 1.8 acre block of clone 76 chardonnay and shows the purity of nature's fruit. Peach, apple and honeysuckle notes flood the palate, with hints of chalk, minerals, lemon, pineapple and dried herbs. The wine is aged in stainless steel, no oak at all. The wine is bigger and richer than most unoaked chardonnays that I have had. This is a better choice to have with food, than most California Chardonnays. $34.99

Chateau Puygueraud 2009, Cotes de Francs

The blend making up the 2009 is 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec. The wine is an impressive effort for this Chateau, it is brighter, fleshier and more concentrated than many past vintages. Black fruits are abundant, with notes of anise, spice, cedar, plum and graphite. The finish long and supple, without a heavy handed tannic ending. This is more wine than the price suggests. $21.99

Domaine de la Quilla 2010 Muscadet Sevre & Maine

Do not mistake this wine for a Muscato D'Asti, the two wines have nothing in common, it fact the grape used to make this wine is Melon de Bourgnone. Aromas of green apples, lemon and herbs greet you as soon as you catch your first wiff. The lemony notes carry to the palate, along apple, pear, melon and mineral tones. The wine dry and lean, and perfect with shellfish. $10.99

Bertrand Ambroise 2009 Bourgogne Rouge

The 2009 vintage in Burgundy was outstanding, often in vintages like the 2009, the lesser wines can prove to be wonderful values, as is the case with the Ambroise Bourgogne. The wine is rich and extracted, offering flavors of strawberry and raspberry, intermingled with notes of earth, and spice. Very well balanced and medium bodied, with a lengthy finish. $ 19.99
